Miss Travelling

A few days ago, I posted a video of my old trip to Asia on The subject on this painting was actually one of the kids that I met at the Longneck Village in Thailand. The children were beautiful and so innocent about the world outside their community. They all wore a big smile in their faces except for this one in my painting. She seemed very curious about what went on around her.

Carved Long Neck Tribal Woman Wood Wall Hanging

I was recently reunited with my old students in Papua New Guinea. Thanks to Facebook. Although not very many of them have access to the internet, the few that do will spread the word.
The best 2 years of my life before I got married was spent with these people. Needless to say, they have become an important part of my journey. When I left PNG, I missed it so much that I was able to paint a few of my memories from the land of the unexpected. I still hope that someday I would get a chance to go back and visit.

In this grade 10 students performing their tribal dance at our school cultural show in 2000.

*Painted in 2004 while I was living in New Hampshire.
